I’ll start by saying that I’ve always wanted a Porsche. Played with 1:18 scale models as a kid and lusted after 997s and 987s ever since I had income that could be potentially converted into a Porsche.

The Cayman S I’m looking at has about 40,000 miles on the clock and is a 2007 model finished in Atlas Gray. At a franchised dealer and they’re asking a little over $30k for it. Price seems steep to me on a nine year old Porsche. I would also be trading my fully warrantied 18k mile 2014 BRZ in on it, hoping to at least negotiate payoff on that one.

What would be a good final price to pay for the Porsche (before tax, fees, etc)? My gut tells me not to pay more than $27k pending a clean PPI at the local Porsche store, but what do you guys think?

UPDATE: As I’m sure you were all waiting with baited breath for an update, but unfortunately the car sold before I even had a chance to look at it. Located another, but it was also sold before I could make it over. Hopefully checking out another on Saturday.
